Information for Surfers:
There is very good access to this river mouth (Boca) at about 100 km from San José. You'll find a very long left point break in front of the river mouth, when it's working the ride can last almost a kilometre and is considered the second longest wave in Costa Rica. It is an excellent long board wave, and for hitting the lip on a short board. Best on a south swell at low tide and early to avoid crowds and catch it glassy. The wind usually comes onshore in the early afternoon. During the rainy season the water gets pretty dark and scares people off, but the water is not polluted and you'll find some of the best waves of Costa Rica.
