Quiet Exodus Going On

In past years a quiet and consistent exodus to Costa Rica by foreigners has been taking place and it has gathered momentum more recently.

At this writing the rush to migrate is on and Americans seem to be the ones moving abroad as expatriates in ever-growing numbers. By the end of the 20th Century there were thousands of Americans plus a large number of Canadians, Europeans, Asians and South Americans living in Costa Rica in retirement and enjoying it. After the September 11th tragic events of the World Trade Centre in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, the flow toward peaceful Costa Rica definitely increased. Will you be another one to search for paradise abroad? Eager to see well-meaning foreigners locate in this very beautiful, peace-loving country, I hope so.

Before going to retire in Costa Rica, many expatriates had worked in a great diversity of occupations either in their home country or abroad. Some had never travelled to a foreign country, their mobility having been limited to trips within their nation's boundaries. Others were well versed in overseas travel and had obtained previous experience sampling different cultures and languages while serving in the foreign service, the military, or as executives of international companies. For the ones who had never visited or lived abroad, settling in Costa Rica perhaps became a traumatic experience. But for those who had spent years abroad, locating permanently in a new country was simply a matter of a change of address.

Besides the beautiful mountains and valleys of Costa Rica, I think you'll also enjoy the nice climate which is neither too warm nor too cold. And you'll be able to choose warmth or coolness by either going up or down the topography of the country. Likewise, if you want little rain or much of it, you can also take your pick. The climate is practically tailor-made to your wishes and a change is available within short distances (one or two hours driving time) from each other. All these are positives that you won't find easily elsewhere.
