You can find alternative therapies such as: acupressure, acupuncture, aromatherapy, reflexology, chiropractic, herbal therapies, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and meditation, support groups (some in English), yoga and others. You can also find naturopathic medicine which provides holistic or whole body healthcare. For more information on professionals' who work in medical care, (diagnosis, treatment and cure) look through the Yellow Pages and talk with friends for recommendations. Or consult ads in the Tico Times. l' m sure you'll find what you need.

Since most retirees will be keeping an eye on their over-all health to lower medical costs and live longer, I'll mention an old Spanish adage which says poco plato, poca cama, mucho zapato which translates to: little plate or small eating (no over-indulgence), little bed or little sleeping (not over-sleeping) and much shoe or much shoe wear (much walking). That Spanish formula for longevity seems to hold its truth and undoubtedly many of those over 90 and centenarians have followed this advice.
