Requisites to be admitted

USA citizens interested in visiting Costa Rica need to present their passport, tourist pass, and air ticket. Persons from any other culture need to check in any tourist office or Costa Rican consulate for further requisites.

Language

Spanish is the official language, but you can easily find several people who speak English.

Currency

The national currency is "colon" and it is continuously floating in terms of its exchange rate in regards to dollars. Dollars should be exchanged in any bank of the National Banking System. Most hotels receive and are authorized to exchange them for dollars.

Hour

Costa Rica is two hours ahead in relation to Los Angeles, and just an hour behind New York.

Buses and taxis

Bus service is efficient and cheap. Taxi service is very
modern and organized in cooperative corporations. All cabs are red, except those that transport people from Juan Santamaria International Airport. Inside the city, you can demand the operation of the cab' s taximeter or "maría."
