TEMPORARY RESIDENCE LICENSES

The temporary residence licenses are given for a specific period of time while the procedure for residence in Costa Rica is completed. It is given to those foreigners who apply for this status and to persons who work for international or local organizations in specific programs or contracts.

For these licenses, the following documents are needed:


1 Duly authenticated request in official paper (with a ¢10.00 fiscal stamp and a ¢20.00 immigration stamp) addressed to the
Foreigner Department indicating the reasons why you are asking for a temporary license to stay in the country.

2 A form with the general information of the applicant.


3 Behaviour or police certificate for persons within 16 to 60 years of age to be presented in the Foreign Department.

4 Four front passport-size recent photographs.


5 Depending on your nationality, a guarantee deposit of US$100


6 Certificate of The Civil Registry of parents, children, and marriage.


7 Fingerprints (Main Street, 4th Avenue) for persons above 10 years of age.

8 If still a student, the person will have to bring the papers of the educational institution in which he will stay

9 Document in which you show how are you going to finance your stay in Costa Rica.
