Identification:
Largish blue-gray bird with ragged headcrest, white belly,white neek-band and throat, bluish bar across chest, and large, heavy bill; female has reddish brown bar across belly; to 33cm (13in). (Martín Pescador Norteño, Martín Pescador).
Habitat:
Low elevation aquatic sites, Caribbean and Pacific slopes; found along seashore, streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, lagoons. This species is a nonbreeding seasonal migrant.
