Identification:
A mid-sized, dark brown bat with shiny fur; tips of hair on back often silvery white; short snout with U-shaped, fleshy, skin folds; large, sharp middle incisor and canine teeth; triangular, pointed ears; no tail; head and body length to 9.0cm (3.5in). (Vampiro).
Habitat:
Low and middle elevation wet and dry forests, clearings,farm areas, Caribbean and Pacific slopes; roosts in trees, caves; nocturnal; often flies along riverbeds.
