Identification:

Large, thick-set bird, olive-brownish with darker bars; gray legs; very small tail; slender bill; to 45 cm (18 in). (Tinamú Grande, Gallina de Monte, Gongolona).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet forests, Caribbean and southern Pacific slopes; found usually on the ground, but rests in trees.
