Identification:

Mid-sized green hummingbird with slightly down-curved bill; violet patch behind eye; bluish patch on chest; dark bar across tail; to 10 cm (4 in). (Colibri Verde Orejivioláceo).

Habitat:

High elevation forests, Caribbean and Pacific slopes, southern two-thirds of the country; prefers more open sites such as forest edges, scrub areas, tree plantations.

Arenal Volcano National Park.
Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Irazú Volcano National Park.
La Amistad National Park.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (Fotos).
Poás Volcano National Park.
