Identification:

Large, pig-like rodent; brown or blackish wilh horizontal rows of whitish spots on sides; 60 to 80cm (24 to 31in) long, plus tiny tail. (Tepezcuintle).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet forests and drier areas near watercourses, Caribbean and Pacific slopes; noclurnal; found on the ground.
