Identification:

A mid-sized brown owl with dark streaks on chest; longish ear tufts, or "horns;" to 23cm (9 in). (Lechucita Sabanera)

Habitat:

Low and some middle elevations, northern Pacific slope; found in wooded areas, as well as in semi-open sites such as forest edges, trees along waterways and near buildings and roads.

Found in the following Parks:

Palo Verde National Park.
Rincón de La Vieja National Park.
Santa Rosa Nacional Park.
