Identification:

A large shiny, handsome snake with a long triangular head, often with a single stripe along its top, and dark eye stripes; brown or greyish body with dark blotches; the tail, often with browns, reds and yellows, is usually brighter and more colourful than the body; to 2.5m (8 ft).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet and dry forests, Caribbean and Pacific slopes; often found in open areas on the ground or in vegetation, trees, specially near human settlements.
