Identification:

The largest New World venomous snake; broad, rounded triangle head, brown or blackish with dark eye-stripes; body yellowish; red-brown, grey-brown, or tan with a pattern of brown or black blotches in diamond shape; conspicuous ridge running along the middle of the back; often longer than 2m (6.5 ft). and sometimes to 3.5m (11.5ft).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet forests over parts of the Caribbean and southern Pacific slopes; terrestrial often found near large buttressed trees of fallen logs.
