Identification:

A large, fairly slender snake with a triangular head, brown, olive, grey, or black back covered with a series of beige and brown or black triangles on each side (when viewed from above the series of triangles resemble hourglass figures or X's); dark strings on each side of head behind eye; yellow under head, tan or brown eyes; to 2.5m (8 ft).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet forests and open areas; Caribbean slope and parts of Pacific slope; found in some drier forests near watercourses; partly arboreal as juveniles, terrestrial as adults.
