Identification:

Afairly stocky Pit-viper; tip of snout of rounded triangle head is strongly upturned, providing the bases for the name; tan, brown or reddish-, greyish, or yellowish brown; often with triangular or rectangular light or dark blotches; dark brown eyes; to 60cm (24 in).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevation wet forests, Caribbean and southern Pacific slopes; prefers open areas, clearings; often found near logs, stumps, and litter piles.
