Identification:

Male is very small bluish black bird with black throat, yellow forehead, and yellow chest / belly; female is olive-greenish with lighter green to yellowish chest / belly, grayish on top of head; 9.5 cm (3.75 in). (Eufonia Gargantinegra, Monjita, Agüio).

Habitat:

Low and middle elevations, northern Pacific slope; found in tree canopy in semi-open wooded sites such as forest edges and trees along waterways, and in open habitats with scattered trees.

Found in the following Parks:

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (Fotos).
Palo Verde National Park.
Rincón de La Vieja National Park.
Santa Rosa Nacional Park.
