The dry regions of the pacific coast and the mild Central Valley
Visitors and residents in Costa Rica prefer the warm regions of the Pacific Coast and the mild climate of the central valley. Potato and dairy farmers who came from Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany settled in the higher and cooler areas of the mountains. Residential districts of Rohrmoser, Los Yoses and Cariari are quite popular with foreign residents. The towns of Escazú, Santa Ana and La Garita have also attracted their share of foreigners.
The most preferred and exclusives beaches are Flamingo, Conchal and Herradura because of their five-star hotels, luxury condos, 18-hole golf courses, marinas, and high-class residential subdivisions. Other beaches with a younger crowd are Jacó, Tamarindo, and Hermosa. You can find endless untouched beaches along the country's 1,800-km coastline. The mountains are picturesque. For US$100,000-200,000 one can buy quite a a large farm.
