Central Volcanic Cordillera Conservation Area, Alajuela
This is an area with high rainfall. It is important because it is here that the rivers San Carlos, Barranca, Toro Amarillo and Grande de Tárcoles rise. However, it has very little forest left and so restoring the forest is a very urgent matter. Some dirt roads from Zarcero allow one to go deeper into this protection zone.
