Central Pacific Conservation Area, San José

It contains the last remnant of forests that once covered the Central Valley. The vegetation consists of scarcely altered mature forest, disturbed mature forest and secondary forest. Some of the tallest trees there are wild fig (Ficus insipida), guayabo de monte (Terminalia oblonga) and spiny cedar (Bombacopsis quinatum). It is easy for visitors to see white-faced capuchins (Cebus capucinus), tree squirrels (Sciurus variegatoides) and armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus). El Rodeo is next to the Peace University campus. A path takes one over a large part of this protected area.
