History
The name Curridabat evolved from the name of Indian chief Conirama, who ruled the area when the first Spanish arrived. The town of Curridabat is one of the oldest in Costa Rica.
General Description
The land is mostly flat, well-irrigated and fertile. The canton is drained by the rivers Marí Aguilar and Tiribí, Pio, Piuses, Chaguite and Ocloro, Poró, Minas, Granadilla and Zopilote. Coffee and livestock are the only agricultural products of Curridabat.

Curridabat forms part of the Greater Metropolitan Area. Its developing industrial zone covers over 11% of the canton´s area.

Average elevation is 1,000m above sea level and temperatures normally vary between 20 and 25 degrees Celcius.
