The Program of the La Paz Waterfalls and Butterflyfarm Tour

As you make your way down river you will be greeted by unique views of all the waterfalls from our viewing platforms. Slightly above Encantada fall is an exit trail that will take you to our shuttle bus pick-up area where you can catch a ride back to the Welcome Center and skip the walk back up. With the map and the internal signs, it is easy to find your way through the park. If the weather is nice we recommend proceeding directly to the Waterfalls first and then experiencing the Hummingbird Garden and Butterfly Observatory. Waterfall Gardens is primarily a self-guided tour allowing our visitors to proceed directly to their areas of interest.

The largest Butterfly Observatory in the world !
The Butterfly Observatory is the largest in the world. The enclosed structure allows butterflies to soar freely while guests walk amid the natural habitat. An on-site laboratory is a breeding ground for the countless fluttering species. It offers an interesting perspective into the stages of development of the most colorful species in Costa Rica. Each guest will have the opportunity to release a newly emerged butterfly.

The Restaurant
The largest part of the Welcome Center is the buffet style Restaurant / Dining Area which has a fantastic view of the Poas Volcano Mountain Range and the La Paz River Valley. There are two separate indoor dining rooms, one on each the first floor and second floor and two distinct outdoor patio areas. There is enough room to accommodate private groups in the indoor area on the second floor and on our private outdoor patio, weather permitting. Each of the indoor dining areas has a fireplace with rocking chairs surrounding it for those days when it gets a bit chilly.
