The Program of the Tenorio National Park, Río Celeste Tour

One of the most impressing tours we took

The Tour starts in Liberia and will take you to Bagaces, and shortly before reaching Cañas you'll turn left. A very scenic drive will take you the village Bijagua, soon after the village you'll reach the station and the entrance to the Tenorio National Park. Don't forget to bring good rain-gear. It is very possible that it will start to rain on the way. When we took the tour we were surprised at the Hot Springs. Remember this is a rainforest with up 7000mm rain per year.

There are different options

After about a 30 minutes hike you'll reach a sign that points to the watterfalls. Since this quite a steep descend with huge steps, we decided to go there on our way back. Continuing the trail through the woods, you'll first reach the Río Celeste, later the point were the two rivers join and turn blue callled Borbollones, and later, crossing the river at a few points, you'll get to the Hot Springs. Carefull, they are really hot. On the way back, if you're not too tired you might go down to the watefall and cool off.
