One of the most interesting and educative tours we have participated!
Arriving at the farm a cream-cheese snack is offered decorated with edible flower petals. After a short look at the storage and packing facilities in the main building the tour starts. Depending on the individual interests of the participants, this tour can take from 2 up to 4 hours. This tour is an unforgettable experience of smells and tastes. Spices, Herbs, Medicinal Plants, from lemon balm over basil from India, all way to the leaves that are used by the indigenous healers to fall into a trance you'll find just about everything here.
The plants, trees and herbs are not just from Costa Rica but a large collection from all over the world. See lists ordered A-Z by Scientific Name, by English Name, by Spanish Name or by the Botanical Family. The guide is a walking encyclopaedia and no matter what ailment you might have, be assured he will show you the best healing herbs or maybe half a dozen of them. No one of our many questions stayed unanswered. Before going home we spent all the money we took along in concentrated eucalyptus oil, teas from flowers, spices, herb-plants to put in our garden and fresh salads, parsley and lots of basil. Back home we cooked fresh Pesto and put enough in the freezer for about 5 more. If you want to see more pictures as in the picture gallery, click here: Herbs-1, Herbs-2 and Herbs-3
