It all started with a genuine Swiss cow stable
This unique spot is today a real small Swiss Corner in Costa Rica. After the first cow stable followed the Hotel and Restaurant, a second Cow Stable, a little Chapel, an apartment housing and a small bus station. Finally, material to build a Railroad was brought from Switzerland. Today you'll find the train station behind the hotel and over two miles of track going over bridges and through tunnels to an underground station, fast-food restaurant with terrace and Rondodrama, a revolving restaurant.
The Hotel Los Heroes (1991) is built like a real Swiss Chalet putting the two cultures under one roof. It also combines two historical moments: 700 years of the foundation of Switzerland and 100 years of Costa Rican Democracy. The front paintings of Arnold von Winkelried (1386) and Juan Santamaría (1856) represent part of those historical events.
