In most Travel Guides you will find Costa Rica divided into 6 different regions. In the Central Highlands (Central Valley or simply Central Region) you'll find the Nation's Capital San Jose, the area south and northeast of San José, Cartago and vicinity, Turrialba, Heredia City and Vicinity, Alajuela City, West of Alajuela, Grecia, and Escazu. The so called Northern Pacific Region is identical with the province of Guanacaste, and the Caribbean Region is identical with the Province of Limon. The remaining Province Puntarenas is divided into two regions: The Central Pacific Region and the South Pacific Region. The two regions with most hotels on beaches, and which receive the bulk of tourists and vacationers are the North and Central Pacific Regions.
If you come for the first or second time to Costa Rica and want to enjoy some beautiful beach vacations on the Pacific coast, you most likely will find the beach resort of your dreams within this two regions. For the first or last night of your stay, or if you are on a business trip, the Central Valley has everything you can wish for. The greatest Bio-Diversity you'll find in the Caribbean and South Pacific Regions. In case you are looking for the best Surf in Central America, Pavone in the same region is the place. The only region left, the Northern Lowlands (or Northern Plains) is filled with nature, volcanoes, rainforests and hot springs. Try the Selva Verde Lodge in Heredia near Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, there you can find just about anything for adventurers, like bird watching, river tours, canopy tours, horseback riding and much more.
What is the best time of the year to come to Costa Rica? We are getting this question at least once a week. We personally like the green season best, because it is cheaper, less crowded and green, and there is an average of 5 hours sunshine even during that season. But here in Costa Rica anytime you'll have the best time of your life! We all welcome you in our small paradise and want to give you our thanks for using us for your reservations.
