A family owned and managed hotel in Sarapiquí
Tis mountain-style hotel is located at about 1.5 hours from San José at 150m above sea-level in the province of Heredia. The average temperature here is between 28ºC and 30ºC. Sarapiquí started to develop about 30 years ago with the banana plantations. The Votos Indians were the first people to live in this area.
Then, in the colonial period, the land was colonized because of its importance as a river port to the North Zone and its access to the river San Juan. Many people with a variety of socio-cultural background from many other regions of the country have moved here in recent years, making it a multicultural town.
Sarapiquí is a land of coffee, corn, cocoa, cardamom, bananas, exportation plants, tropical flowers, dwarf palm, fruits like pineapples, and cattle breeding. There are various protected zones in the area such as Braulio Carrillo National Park, Biological station La Selva, protected area Sarapiquí, and the new Neotropic Sarapiquí Center, with an archaeological museum and Biological garden.
