A fantastic Mountain Resort, located in the Cloud Forest of Heredia!
The Hotel Châlet Tirol is a Mountain Resort, located 11 miles north from the capital city of San José, on the outskirts of the Central Ridge near the Volcano Barva and the upper reaches of the Braulio Carrillo National Park, and at an altitude of 5.900 feet.
The Cloud Forest that surrounds the hotel opens a world of knowledge and enjoyment to the guests. Visitors may schedule an array of activities suited to every interest and ability, from relaxing and absorbing the wonders of the forest, to specially designed one day tours such as hiking with one of our naturalist guides on the trails of the private reserves.
The location or Châlet Tirol originally was part of the dairy farm of a former President of Costa Rica, Alfredo Gonzalez Flores (1914-1917) He was born in Heredia on Jun. 15-1877and this property originally belonged to his father in law. He started a dairy farm, subdividing it into pasture blocks to use a new technique for those days of rotating the cows from pasture to pasture. He also planted thousands of Cypress trees as boundaries and as wind breakers.
