Half way between La Virgen and Puerto Viejo
The Eco-Hotel SarapiquiS can be found at a hidden entrance, like a beautiful secret behind flower fence. An old orange orchard guides the visitor on a journey of the past to a pre-Colombian town built with all commodities of the modern world. The architecture was inspired by the pre-Colombian style of the region. The round 'Palenque' (ranch) is covered with real palm-leaves or fake recycled plastic palm-leaves (to save the palms).
The Palenque structure is the bases of the concept of SarapiquíS: the history and nature in its relation to the human population. Also, the circular design symbolizes the circle of life and the delicate interrelations between the cycles of the bio-diversity in the interior of the rainforests.
The eco-hotel has five Palenque structures: four with eight guestrooms each. Like an inverted flower, four units with guestrooms are divided into eight spacious luxury rooms, united in the centre which has an impressive altitude of 18 meters (55ft). (see first picture below).
All units are surrounded by the beautiful gardens of the property. Many rooms have a spectacular view to the canopy of the forest, while others are protected by aromatic colours of the garden. With its harmonic earth-coloured decorations, natural stones and antique furniture and handicrafts, the guest can enjoy comfortable beds, private baths, ceiling fans, telephones and access to the Internet. At the outside each guestroom has a covered terrace that invites the visitor to enjoy the nearness of the forest.
