A piece of paradise for bird watchers
The El Tucán Jungle Lodge is managed by a German couple. It really is in the middle of the jungle. Once in Puerto Viejo at the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, you have to follow the road to Manzanillo for 3 km. You will see the Tucán Jungle Lodge sign 50 m after you crossed the bridge over the Cocles River, there you turn right and follow the dirt road and the signs another 800m.
Here in the middle of a dense tropical forest you'll find this amazing lodge with stylish wooden bungalows on the banks of the river Caño Negro surrounded by exotic plants and fascinating animals such as iguanas, sloth and toucans. Relax in a comfortable chair or hammock watching hummingbirds, river turtles and butterflies and enjoy the unique peace of nature. When we visited this amazing place the owners kept a howler monkey as pet who was all over the place (see pictures and logo).
