The Amazon of Costa Rica experience
If you like seclusion and the beauty of the tropics, Turtle Beach Lodge is your address. After a boat ride of about two hours from Caño Blanco to Tortuguero, you'll reach this hotel. From here you can adventure along the beach, the lowland jungle rainforest of the different channels from a Kayak or on a Motorboat as well by hiking the many jungle trails of the 175 acre resort or participating on a small expedition to the Cerro de Tortuguero from where you'll have a beautiful view over the different canales.
From the end of June to the beginning of October thousands of Atlantic Green Sea Turtles come to the beaches of Tortuguero. Leatherback and Hawksbill Sea Turtles, arrive in lesser numbers to lay eggs from November to May. Later watch their young as they hatch and try to make it to the sea. Other wildlife you may see are crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys, butterflies, colorful poison dart frogs, sloth's, pelicans, parrots, toucans, and many other bird species.
