An ecological hotel with a strong commitment to the protected natural environment and the tropical vegetation of the mangrove.
This family-friendly hotel is located on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, 15 km from Manuel Antonio National Park, or 15 minutes from Quepos Airport, right at the beginning of the mangrove estuary of Damas. From the San José International Airport it is about a 3 hours drive, depending on traffic. It offers comfortable air-conditioned rooms, a spacious parking lot, swimming pool, bar, and a restaurant. The Damas Island mangrove ecosystem is one of the most visited tourist sites.
Nature lovers can meet one of the more unusual types of vegetation on the planet, and learn the importance of this delicate ecosystem. Mangroves thrive where the salt waters of the ocean meet the fresh waters of tropical rivers creating a periodically submerged forest of interlacing aerial roots.
There are about 50 Km. of canals, where you are in the habitat of a wide variety of tropical flora and fauna. You can observe white faced monkeys, lazy sloth, iguanas, Caymans, bats, snakes, otters, raccoons, turtles, many types of resident birds, and the anteater. Enjoy this diverse and self-sustaining mangrove and living system that co-exist there, by kayak or boat "tour" or rent a boat to go fishing. Free kayaking for the Hotel Guests.
