The Hotel 1492 Jade y Oro is ideal for travelers that prefer a one story building with spacious rooms and comfortable bathrooms. It is located in walking distance to downtown San José and in a very secure neighborhood.
The Hotel 1492 Jade y Oro is a cozy and lavishly decorated Spanish-style building originally built as a private residence. Built in l941, the house retains its original structure and design, with its high ceilings, inner archways, chimney and original Portuguese tile floors and bright tropical flowers. The Hotel 1492 Jade y Oro was redecorated by the daughter of its original owner, Amalia Jimenez Volio, an artist who grew up in the house. Jimenez-Volio painted a colorful ecological mural separating it from the property next door, which added a cheerful tropical touch to the house's colonial sobriety, filling its inner courtyards with colorful, modern furniture, typical Costa Rican crafts and paintings of her own, featuring mostly tropical flower motifs.
