About Sámara Beach
The Beach and Village of Playa Sámara is about 16 km southeast of Bahía Garza and about 35 km southwest of the Folkloric town of Nicoya. Called some of the prettiest and safest beaches in Costa Rica, Sámaras white-sand beaches are perfect for family vacations. Many Swiss and German have their vacation houses here as well as some wealthy Ticos such as Ex-President Oscar Arias. The shorter drive from San José due to the Taiwan-Friendship Bridge makes it a favourite destination for tourists, and local sun, and beach lovers alike.

About Nosara Beach
Nosara has also a very attractive wide white sand beach and is loved by Surfers. Opposed to Sámara, there is lots of forest and wildlife around here and many of the houses are occupied year round. Some houses can be rented by the week. The residents of Nosara won several legal battles to keep out big scale tourist developments. All the small hotels are spread out along the coast. The village and airport of Nosara are 5km inland. Some of the nearby beaches like Blaya Barrigona have strong rip tides.

About Playa Junquillal
Playa Junquillal is about half way to the Las Baulas National Park, where the Leatherback Turtles of up to half ton sizes lay their eggs. The long and wide beach of Junquillal is also loved by Surfers, but swimmers have to be careful with strong rip-tides. Junquillal only has a few hotels and no village as such. The nearest place with some infrastructure is Paraíso about 4 km inland. Junquillal offers a one of kind away-from-it-all feeling.

About Carrillo Beach
This beach begins about 4km southeast of Sámara. Playa Carrillo is a postcard-perfect tropical beach with a long stretch palm-tree boulevard. It is a popular beach manly for Ticos that come here with their families to swim in the calm waters and enjoy a picnic on this "Blue Flag" beach. Camping has lately been prohibited on the beach to keep it clean and uncluttered for all visitors.
