Guanacaste
Guanacaste covers the areas called Northern Pacific and / or Peninsula Nicoya. It is mainly famous for its beaches and is also called The Gold Coast of Costa Rica. This pages cover the areas of Playa Conchal Beach, Playa Langosta Beach, Playa Flamingo Beach, Playa Tamarindo Beach, Playa Potrero Beach, Playa Pan de Azucar or also called Sugar Beach, and Brasilito. Within these Beach Comunities you'll find the bulk of the Hotels, Resorts and Beach Cabins and Rentals of the Northern Pacific Region in Guanacaste Province.
If you want to visit Las Baulas National Park, where the Leatherback Turtles, the biggest Turtles on earth that can weigh over half a ton put there eggs between Januaray and March. From there you drive to the village called Huacas, from there goes the road to another village called Matapalo. From Matapalo you have to take a sometimes rough road to the Playa Grande. There is a small house with the Park Guards there. They will take you with a special Flashlight (so the turtles will not get disturbed) to places where they are laying their eggs. One is not allowed to touch, take pictures or use a regular flashlight.
The nicest hotels in this area you'll find in Playa Conchal, Flamingo Beach, Tamarindo and Sugar Beach. In Flamingo the best address is the Flamingo Beach Resort, the only 5-Star Hotel in Flamingo. In Flamingo a beautiful 4 Star Hotel is the Flamingo Marina Resort, and the Sugar Beach Hotel.
